This set of 31 photos produced on abandoned mining sites in the Abitibi accompanied Avion ultra-léger, in particular for the exhibition “Espace nordique 2” (1996). The photos suggest an airplane’s flight over the devastated territory and the ruins of an industrial past. From a certain point of view, they represent mock archival documents, whose quality as simulacra is readily apparent to viewers who notice the incongruities.
